Tindly

The ivy gourd, commonly known as “Tindora” or “Tindly” in India, is a small, elongated vegetable recognized for its glossy green skin and crisp texture. Belonging to the species Coccinia grandis, it is a staple in Indian kitchens, especially in home-style cooking across western and southern regions. When cooked, tindly softens while retaining a slight crunch, absorbing the flavors of spices, making it ideal for stir-fries, curries, and dry sabzis. Often prepared with mustard seeds, onions, or grated coconut, its mild, slightly tangy taste complements a variety of traditional dishes. Beyond its culinary charm, tindly is valued for its nutritional benefits — rich in dietary fiber, vitamins, and antioxidants that support digestion, blood sugar balance, and overall vitality. Celebrated in both everyday meals and festive spreads, tindly brings subtle flavor and wholesome nourishment to the Indian table.
