Sapota
Sapota, commonly known as ‘chikoo’ in India, is a tropical fruit cherished for its sweet and malty flavour. Chikoo is widely cultivated in states like Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Gujarat. Its brown, grainy skin encases soft, juicy flesh dotted with black seeds. Chikoo is enjoyed fresh, often sliced, or scooped out with a spoon, and used in milkshakes, ice creams, and desserts. Rich in vitamins and minerals, this versatile fruit is a favourite among Indian households for its distinctive taste and creamy texture. Brown-skinned sapotas are smooth to grainy textured, musky-scented, and deliciously sweet in taste. The flesh generally contains 2-3 large and inedible black seeds.
